Sliding Scale & Pricing
What is a Sliding Scale?
A sliding scale is a pricing structure that adjusts the cost of services based on an individual's or organization's financial ability to pay. It is rooted in the principles of community care and mutual aid, ensuring that people from various financial backgrounds can access the support they need. This pricing model recognizes that not everyone has the same financial resources and offers flexibility for those who are unable to pay full price for services.
A sliding scale is not about setting arbitrary rates—it’s a tool to make sure everyone can get the support they need, regardless of their financial situation, while still respecting the value of the work provided. I use this model because I believe in fairness, transparency, and accessibility, especially when it comes to support and care. It allows me to offer services to people who need them, while ensuring that I can continue my work in a way that is sustainable for both you and me.
Why is a Sliding Scale Important?
Sliding scales help ensure that financial resources are not a barrier to accessing the care and support you deserve. For many, the cost of services can be a significant obstacle, and I want to make sure that financial hardship does not prevent anyone from seeking help. This model reflects a commitment to equity—ensuring that people can receive support based on their circumstances rather than a fixed cost that might exclude those in need. By using a sliding scale, I also promote the values of community care, where those who are able to pay the full price help subsidize the services for others. This way, the model isn’t just about offering low-cost options, but about creating a community of support where everyone has access to resources.
For Individuals
I understand that everyone’s financial situation is different, and my sliding scale is designed to reflect that reality. Rather than using federal poverty guidelines or a rigid fee structure, the sliding scale I offer is based on financial ability and trust. I ask that you choose the tier that best reflects your current financial situation, and I trust you to be honest about your ability to pay.
Tier 3 (Full Price): This rate represents the true cost of the services I provide. If you are financially stable and able to comfortably pay without hardship, this is the rate for you. Paying the full price helps sustain the services I provide and enables me to offer lower rates to those who truly need it. Your payment ensures the availability of these services for everyone in the community.
Tier 2: This rate is for individuals who may be facing some financial strain but are still able to meet basic needs without significant hardship. If paying full price would be a sacrifice—such as limiting your ability to cover other necessary expenses—this tier offers a balance between affordability and the true value of my services.
Tier 1: This tier is designed for individuals experiencing significant financial hardship, where paying for services would create a strain on meeting basic needs like food, housing, or transportation. This rate ensures that everyone, regardless of financial circumstance, can access the support they need.
For Businesses & Organizations
All businesses and organizations are expected to pay the full price for services. This ensures that I can continue offering sliding scale access to individuals and supports the ongoing sustainability of my work. Businesses benefit from professional services that improve their operations, and paying the full price reflects the value of these services while helping to ensure others can access care at a reduced rate. The full price also supports the larger goal of community care, where financial resources are shared to benefit everyone. If you are a small business, startup, or nonprofit organization that is specifically working in the community or with marginalized groups, please contact me directly to discuss how we can support one another.
